BOTW 53: A Fusion of Creativity - The Ali
The Story Behind the Board:
Picture this – a 5'8" almond design, a mishap, and an unexpected turn of events. Ben, shaping for Soto Surfcraft, and Nik faced a challenge when the original design took an accidental hit from an air compressor. Rather than seeing it as a setback, the duo embraced the unexpected and turned the board into the ALI, An Aipa-inspired sting design.
Fueled by inspiration and guided by a touch of abstract artistry, Ben adjusted the design and transformed Nik's board into a work of functional art. The result? A board that not only looks like a blast but promises a thrilling ride.
Design Details of the Sting by Aipa:
Aipa's Sting, a legendary design, served as the muse for this unique creation. The hydroplane speedboat-inspired outline, coupled with elements from the mini-gun and swallowtail designs, paved the way for a board that excels in both speed and maneuverability.
The wide nose and hip, paired with a narrow, tapered tail, create a winged outline that enhances floatation and planing speed. The stinger effect, achieved through a narrower rear section and Aipa's signature swallowtail, allows for sharp turns and unmatched maneuverability. The innovative placement of the single fin further forward shifts the board's pivot point, providing a ride that's responsive and agile.
