This week, we're thrilled to showcase a masterpiece from the Splinter Series, which is Board #6 from the One Last Wave Project, crafted by the talented hands of Ryan Lynch at Timber Surf Company in Santa Cruz, California. Specializing in high-performance, eco-friendly wooden surfboards, Ryan's dedication to sustainable craftsmanship is genuinely commendable.
Board #6 is a memorial board constructed from the fallen mighty California redwoods. This mid-length surfboard dimensions are 8’0” x 22 1/2" x 3 1/8" and features a distinctive fish tail, creating a perfect balance between style and functionality. The twin fin setup, using the Futures Compatible fin system, ensures a responsive and dynamic ride, while the bio-epoxy resin adds an eco-conscious touch to the board's construction.
The One Last Wave Project's active memorial, of which Board #6 is a part, emphasizes the importance of keeping the memories of loved ones alive through surfing.
If you want to experience these boards' unique connection, reach out to Dan to catch a wave on one of these special surfboards or get the name of your loved ones on the next board. Surf Neutral is dedicated to keeping track of their locations and the names of the loved ones honoured on each board.
Ryan Lynch, the visionary behind Timber Surf Craft, brings a unique background to the shaping bay. Raised in Sunnyvale, he transitioned from a career in tech to pursue his passion for surfboard craftsmanship. Ryan's journey includes studying design, working for major corporations, and eventually settling in Santa Cruz, a place close to his heart since his weekends were often spent there. His surfing journey began in 1998 with a performance truster board, shaping the trajectory of his craft.
Timber Surf Craft offers a range of boards, each reflecting Ryan's dedication to building boards that last longer. Each board is a unique piece of functional art from low-tier Corky and soft-top-like boards to mid-level TechxTile boards with EPS or PU cores and the high-tier Splinter series with a low-density EPS core and redwood finishing from the Santa Cruz mountains. Ryan's focus on wood as a sustainable alternative to traditional materials sets Timber Surf Craft apart.
Surf Neutral serves as the bridge between surfers and exceptional board builders like Ryan. The platform aims to be a one-stop destination for discovering, owning, and sharing incredible surfboards. Each posted board can be shared on your favourite social platform and even your website, eliminating time spent on showcase boards. Connect with us if you want to know more!
