The Legendary Steve Talley: A Surfing Icon Steve Talley's surfing journey began in 1962 when he first caught waves at Hendry's Beach. From that moment, he became hooked on the sport and never looked back. His dedication to surfing led him to ride the waves at Haskells, where he honed his skills and felt the stoke that fueled his lifelong passion. Throughout his surfing career, Steve looked up to surfers like Shawn Claffy, Hud Cobb, Dickey Fisher, and Mark Livingston, drawing inspiration from their style and expertise.
His commitment to the sport was evident when he surfed an impressive 82 days during his first summer at Haskells, despite his dad's disapproval. Steve's love for surfing was not without challenges, but he continued to pursue his passion with unwavering determination.
Apart from his prowess as a surfer, Steve Talley's influence extended to shaping surfboards. Together with his brother Jim "Pineapple" Talley, he operated a surfboard shop where they crafted boards with incredible speed and skill. They were part of the short board revolution, shaping faster designs suitable for the sweet and challenging lines of Haskell's waves.
